Byron Bay
The world-famous Byron Bay
is a very popular and safe tourist destination, beloved by Australians and international
travellers alike. It's renowned for its surfing beaches, beautiful scenery and
great nightlife. There's always plenty to do in the Byron Bay
region. Experience the local Sunday markets, filled with colourful stalls that

Byron Bay hosts numerous international events, such as the famous Blues & Roots Festival
and Splendour in
the Grass, attracting some of the world's best musicians and bands. Many
other events also take place here throughout the year, such as A Taste of Byron, the Byron Bay
Writers Festival, and the Byron Bay Triathlon.
Overlooking the picturesque seaside town of Byron Bay is the Cape Byron Lighthouse. A wonderful
coastal walking trail of about five kilometers winds from the town to the
lighthouse –and is a must for all visitors. Once you get to the top of the Cape,
enjoy breathtaking views of Byron
Bay and the Julian Rocks
Marine Reserve. You'll also have a chance to spot the local dolphins; a special
treat is provided by the migrating humpback whales, who travel through the area
from June to October.
Location
Cape Byron
is Australia's most easterly
point, located on the far north coast of New
South Wales. It is close to the Gold Coast and Brisbane, which are just across the Queensland border. Byron
Bay is about 170 kilometers south of Brisbane and 790 kilometers north of Sydney.
Climate
Byron Bay has a subtropical climate. The daily maximum temperature is

Cape Byron Headland Reserve.

Top Ten Dive Sites.

- During the season between June and October,
it's possible to spot humpback whales as they make their annual migration.

Getting to Byron Bay
The closest international airport is Brisbane (about 2.5 hours' drive from Byron Bay).
There are connecting flights from Sydney
to Ballina, the local airport (a 25-minute drive away) or the Gold Coast
airport (about a one hour drive).
