Q: Can beginners come?

A: Beginners are welcome at Santosha yoga retreats. We cater to absolute beginners as well as to yoga teachers and everyone in between. The yoga practice will be as gentle or challenging as you wish.

Q: Do I have to bring anything to the retreat?

A: Comfortable clothing, a mat and possibly a block if needed.

Q: Do I bring my own surfboard?

A: You are most certainly invited to bring your own board. We do have learner boards available, also which have soft tops and make the journey easier and quicker!

Q: Do I bring my own wetsuit?

A: Yes, please do. However, as the water temp is nice and warm in Byron Bay most of the year, we can suggest a rash guard will be all you need.

Q: How many people are on each retreat?

A: At Santosha we believe very strongly in quality versus quantity, and therefore our retreats accept no more than 20 students with two or more yoga teachers. The surfing sessions will have no more than five or six in a group with one teacher.

Q: What is the food like?

A: All meals are vegetarian and delicious. We cater to any and all dietary requirements. Please email sunny@yogasurfingretreats.com to inform us of your specific needs. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Q: Do I need to have previous experience in surfing ?

A: Our retreats welcome people of all levels, from beginners to advanced, and we aim to provide surfers of every level with maximum enjoyment of the sport. Sunny (who is currently an Australian Champion) has had plenty of experience competing, so she can guide those keen on competition training.

Q:
I am going to the retreat by myself, is this ok?
A: It certainly is—attending retreats is about meeting new friends! And because it is also about relaxing and getting away from the stresses of everyday life, we find that many people come on their own.

Q : Can I organise my own accommodation?

A: We have designed each retreat to include activities and accommodation as part of the cost. Furthermore, we aim to give each participant an overall experience as part of the group. Therefore, the selected accommodation is included as part of the experience.
However, if you choose to make your own arrangements, please let us know and we can see how we can help.

Q: What happens if I have to cancel after payment
?
A: Please read the refund policy .

Q: I have limited English will I be able to understand?
A: Sunny lived in Asia for seven years and understands this dilemma well. We cater to our participants as fully as possible by bringing in interpreters when needed. We believe that the important foundations of yoga and surfing can be taught without a need for strong English.

Q: Can I do washing easily?

A: Yes, there is a laundromat very near to our facilities.

Q: Will someone pick me up from the airport?

A: No. However, it is very easy to get to Byron Bay from any of the local airports. Please let us know if you need more help with arranging transport.
