Sunny trained professionally at the ACPE in high school physical
education, graduating in 1986. In 1989, she was drawn into surfing as a
result of her love for water and the sport.

She became the first Development Officer for Surfing Australia, where she was instrumental in developing
numerous
grassroots programs for the advancement of women's surfing in Australia. During this time she met her future husband, left Australia, continued her education and began to compete professionally in ASP surfing events in the U.S. and worldwide. She was the U.S. ASP East Champion in 1995 and finished as number 18 in the world on the WQS in 1999. She is the 2007 Australian National Champion Surfer for the over-35 age group.
Sunny turned a longtime interest in yoga toward study in 2000 and, having earned her first degree from the Integral Academy of Australasia, she has now focused her full attention on her practise and advancement of yoga, refining her lifestyle and enhancing her attachment to the ocean and surfing.
She brings her love of yoga to her teaching and creates a space of enthusiasm, humor, hard work and focus. Her teaching ethos embraces a strong commitment to her own practise so that she may pass to others knowledge and wisdom from her personal journey.
"My joy in teaching is imparting knowledge to my students, which in turn allows amazing changes to occur on deep levels within each of them. These changes vary from student to student and are therefore unique in every way," she explains.
"When I reflect upon my own yoga journey, I understand how the effects of the marriage of breath and movement in yoga are now embedded in all that I do in my life, how I see the world, how I react to changes, how I deal with daily chores, how I love my children and husband. My yoga practise has allowed my mind to become quieter, giving me the patience to grow into a healthier me. Each time I step onto my mat, I find and connect to that deep state of peace, allowing the stresses of life to melt away with each breath I take. It is this feeling and place that I hope my students can find as they move through their own journeys in yoga."
Living in Japan during 1999 and 2006 allowed her to teach a wide variety of students in both private and group settings. Sunny teaches with awareness and compassion so that she can create a safe, nurturing environment in which her students may find their own inward paths. She teaches at a pace that encourages students to challenge themselves at their individual levels. Students are encouraged to use props and modifications where necessary, allowing growth to occur over time.
Developing Santosha was a natural path for Sunny. It is her hope to inspire others to find peace and clarity in the chaos of life. Santosha is her gift to you.
