Santosha Scholarship Recipients

"I was awarded one of the Santosha`s scholarships that was being offered in a neighbouring council. Lucky me!!

I was so happy as this is what I had been wanting for a very long time, to be a certified yoga instructor. I had been instructing classes for almost 4 years but without a certificate could not get insurance and could not be

employed by anyone. The level 1 course was incredible and covered a broad range of topics. I felt like I was taken on a journey of self discovery where I was taught to have faith in myself, patience, stamina, the art of trusting my own judgement and learning to let go and to go with the flow of life.

The course was intense as I started to uncover who I really was and I began with promising to be honest to myself, a commitment to do my very best and enjoy my time away from my family, to make the most of the opportunity I had been given. New friendships have been made and this is one of the best things about going away to study.

I found that each of the yoga teachers were absolutely brilliant. They had a wealth of knowledge that was given to us so eagerly and with much passion. I have many fond memories of sitting around and being captivated by the different teachers/instructors and how they presented their lessons/classes to us. We were given many different assignments to complete and this helped to understand more fully what we were being taught. We were always given guidance, assurance and help if ever needed from any of the yoga teachers. There always seemed to be much love floating around. Since I have returned I have found myself to be much more confident in what I am teaching and how I adapt my classes to each individual. My class numbers have increased. I have also secured a contract with a new 5 star resort where I will be giving private classes. I have also written an expression of interest to a local nursing home where I hope to give gentle yoga stretch and movement classes next year. I have also been asked to give yoga classes for pre school children and I will begin those classes in March 2011. I would not be doing all of that if I had not been given the scholarship and the opportunity from Santosha and the local council.

I will always remember and be thankful for the wonderful and generous chance I was given. Thank You Santosha."
